What an important topic you've written about, Ruby. I agree with you that having older kids babysit younger ones is potentially fraught with potential peril. As the oldest, I did my share of caretaking. I don't remember resenting my siblings but I can sure tell you I had no desire to have kids of my own for quite a while. The irony is that I would bet most parents default to that out of necessity rather than laziness or ignorance. In those situations, I couldn't agree more about how important it is to keep your eyes and ears open.
