What a sad story and one that has several versions with different victims. Carol Spadoni immediately comes to mind. It's easy to underestimate how cunning and charming some predators can be. There have been defense attorneys, psychologists, custody guards - people you'd think would not be fooled easily - get taken in and lose their careers (and some their lives).
