What a sad and complicated story. One of the most amazing men I ever met had gone through rehab 23 times before staying sober. He was a force of nature in the recovery community - never gave up on anybody because of his life experience.

He always told me that, when you care about someone struggling with an addiction, it's like you're in love with someone who is already committed to someone else. They may care about you, but you'll always be second.
