What a horrible, horrible tragedy. I can't even imagine what the father and husband must have felt when he got that phone call. And I hope he has not seen a single ridiculous tweet, the majority of which are probably sent by thirteen-year-olds whose brain development will not reach maturity for at least another decade.

As far as the criminal justice system goes, twenty-four years for vehicular homicide does not sound to me like this young man's attractiveness won him any favors, given that the typical sentence is fifteen years. And, as a forensic psychologist, I can assure you that, while one innocent man on death row is too many, the death penalty is not handled out like candy.
