What a bummer. I hope they find out what happened to them. Strange but true story; I once opened the door to my house to find what I later learned was a grebe sitting on my door mat (promptly named Henry). He just sat there and sat there. I finally scooped him up with the help of a neighbor, we took him to a wildlife sanctuary, and was told he didn't move because he had to have water to take off. There a happy ending to my story, thank goodness. He was taken to a local water source and flew away.
