Sadly, nothing about this case surprises me, other than the fact that he was paroled for his first murder after such a short time. I'd bet money that he'd been violent with his first wife before he killed her; He certainly was violent with his "second family," as evidenced by her attempts to get restraining orders against him. I've seen many men have no trouble at all in prison because the circumstances in which they are typically violent (for example, in the throes of meth addiction or in relationships with women) aren't there. I should also mention that I've seen plenty of men get into fights in prison to survive and not their crimes once they are free.
