Interesting story. I was a little puzzled by the move away from the gas chamber based on the events during Harding's execution since, from what I read here, it sounds like it was a "typically horrible" gas chamber event. (Unlike some of the horrendous cases in which condemned men actually caught on fire in the electric chair).
