I loved your reply, Liz. I don't think all "blaming the victim" is malicious; I think when something bad happens, we all look for ways we can keep it from happening to US. And that can easily lead to "what did she do/not do/overlook/participate in, etc." that caused this to happen. But this can also take the focus off the person who is really culpable.
